Features and Points of Interest:
The Thomas Evans Trail moves through woods, pastures and farmlands. Our ride begins at the southern trailhead at Cherry Valley Road in Newark, Ohio following the rapids of
Raccoon Creek on the trail's east side. After passing under State Route 16, cow-dotted fields extend from both sides of the trail. Continuing north, you shortly arrive at the ruins of Clemons Railroad Station. The remaining ride to Johnstown passes alternately though woods, ravines and farm fields. This is a great ride on those scorching hot summer days as most of the bikeway is lined with a canopy of foliage that gives the effect of riding through a long, green tunnel. Riding from Johnstown to Newark the trail makes a gradual descent that goes for several miles making the trip an almost effortless ride.
